| Higbee Cut: |
| A Higbee Cut is a cut in the threads of a fire hose coupling that provides a connection with the first thread of the opposing coupling. A Higbee Cut can be used to avoid cross threading. A notch in the rocker lugs of the coupling known as the "Higbee Indicator" is used to find the location of the higbee cut. |
