| Size up is the evaluation of every aspect of a fire scene. Size up is usually performed by the first arriving officer on scene and should begin before arrival. During size up an officer must take into consideration multiple facts such as how big is the fire, what is burning, are there power lines or natural gas lines near by, how many firefighters are available, is more personnel or equipment needed etc. |
