College (Associate) Membership
College Membership (deemed associate membership by the by-laws) is designed for those who currently belong to a fire department at home, but inhabit the IFA's service area in a temporary housing situation such as dorms or rentals while attending one of the areas schools or universities.
Applicants are required to have completed the Essentials of Firefighting series or the Interior Firefighter Module prior to submitting an application

It is encouraged that college applicants submit a letter of recommendation from the chief or a line officer from their home department along with the application.
